What is hot rolled steel coil?

Hot rolled steel coil is made of slab (mainly continuous casting slab) as raw material, which is heated and then made into strip steel by roughing mill  and finishing mill. Hot rolled steel  is a mill process which involves rolling the steel at a high temperature, which is above the steel’s recrystallisation temperature.The common size specification of hot rolled coil steel is 1.5-4.0mm in thickness, 800-1600mm in width and 2000-2500mm in length.The thickness tolerance of hot rolled coil steel is determined according to the coil steel with different thickness. When the thickness range is 1.5-2.6, the thickness tolerance is 0.1.When the thickness range is 2.6-3.0, the thickness tolerance is 0.12.When the thickness range is 3.0-4.0, the thickness tolerance is -0.17~+0.12.

The surface quality of hot rolled steel coil is also required.The surface of steel plate or steel belt is not allowed to have inclusions, cracks, rust and other defects harmful to use, not allowed to have parking spots.Defects that do not affect the molding performance are allowed, such as slight handless abrasions, light yellow film after pickling, slight pitting, scratches, roller marks and indentation, color difference and slight handless wrinkles.Since the steel strip has no opportunity to remove the defect, delivery with the defect is allowed, but the defect part does not exceed 6% of the total length of the steel coil.Usually in order to ensure the quality of products, the steel surface will be coated with a certain rustproof performance of electrostatic rustproof oil.Under normal conditions of transportation and storage, the supplier shall guarantee that the oil coated products are free from corrosion within 3 months.
