Development of hot rolled steel coil (hot strip) production lines in China

The first hot rolled coil production line is
the 2800/1700 semi-continuoushot strip millof Angang Steel Company
Limited. This production line is imported from the Soviet Union in 1957,
and started working in 1958. The finishing rolling line started working
in 1959. Thi shot strip rolling millstart the history of steel coil
production in China. This production are basically operated manually,
setup and adjusted by manpower. The engineering and quality was at a low
level at that time. .

The second hot rolled strip mill is 1700 mill imported from Japan by WUHAN STEEL GROUP in 1978, then
BAOSHAN STEEL imported the 2050 rolling mill from Germany in 1989. They
are both the continuous rolling strip mills with advanced steel
production technologies.

After that, Chinese steel
companies imported, updated and established a lot of modern and advanced
hot rolled coil production lines, such as traditional hot strip
mills,thin slab casting rolling mills, modern rolling mills. More and
more hot rolled coil plants developed various advanced experiences and
technologies.

Presently, Chinese steel equipment
engineering companies have abilities to build various hot rolled steel
strip mills according to different market requirements.
